ING Baraka 2 Capital Protected Fund
Making your money work for you

Investment Objective

ING Baraka Capital Protected II is a capital protected fund with capital growth opportunities. The Capital Protected Value is derived from investments in Islamic Negotiable Instruments ( INIs ).

To generate potential high growth returns, the fund will be investing in an actively managed option portfolio denominated in US Dollar known as SGAM Baraka which consists of SGAM Al Baraka Index. The option is issued by Societe Generale N.V ( SGA ) while the manager of the index is Societe Generale Asset Management ( SGAM)

ING Baraka Capital Protected Series I which was closed for subscription on 22 June 2007 was oversubscribed at RM516m compared to initial approved fund size of RM200m. The response has been overwhelming due to the active management of the underlying assets in a structured product which is first in the market. We expect another exciting response to Series II.

Investment Policies and Strategies

The Fund seeks to achieve its objective by investing in 3-year in Ringgit denominated Islamic Negotiable Instruments (INIs) from financial institutions governed by relevant legislations in the market that is Shariah-compliant, to ensure that 100% of investors' capital is paid back at the end of the maturity period.

During the tenure of the Fund, to generate potential high growth returns, the Fund will be investing up to 10% in an actively managed option portfolio denominated in US Dollar known as SGAM Baraka which consists of SGAM Al Baraka Index. The issuer of the SGAM Baraka option is Societe Generale NV (SGA) and the manager of the index is Societe Generale Asset Management (SGAM). The SGAM Baraka option will be based on the Islamic contract known as Arbun.

The Fund will invest the remaining NAV in Islamic fixed income and Islamic money market instruments, to preserve capital gains and provide cash liquidity to meet any redemption.
