UOB Rewards 25 Winners Of UOB i-Account 'Win A Nissan X-Trial 2.5L' Campaign And UOB SavingsPlus & Basic Savings Campaign

Kuala Lumpur, 27 November 2006 - United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd [UOB Malaysia] today rewarded deposit account holders in a prize giving ceremony that concludes both the UOB i-Account 'Win a Nissan X-trail 2.5L' Campaign and UOB SavingsPlus and Basic Savings Campaign.

Mr Dhiren Rene Norendra has won himself a brand new Nissan X-trail 2.5L, the Grand Prize of the UOB i-Account 'Win a Nissan X-trail 2.5L' Campaign and UOB SavingsPlus and Basic Savings Campaign. An ecstatic Dhiren expressed, "I would like to thank UOB Malaysia for such a wonderful prize. My family's loyalty to the bank after all these years has culminated in this ecstatic moment."

The UOB i-Account 'Win a Nissan X-trail 2.5L' Campaign began its run from 22 March to 30 September 2006 to promote UOB i-Account - a 4-in-1 Intelligent Money Management Account that combines both savings and current accounts, a time-based deposit account that offers interest rate of 3.18% p.a. with instant overdraft facility.

During the contest duration, other attractive complimentary prizes such as Double UNIRinggit points, Denise the Wine Shop and Parkson vouchers were given away as well.

Meanwhile, 24 UOB Savings account customers won two travel vouchers each to Beijing worth RM2,000 per voucher in the UOB SavingsPlus and Basic Savings Campaign that was held from 3 July to 30 September 2006. Two winners were selected every week during the campaign. In addition, there was also complimentary will-writing service given by UOB Trustee worth RM150 to the participating customers.

According to Mr Chan Kok Seong, Director and Chief Executive Officer (CEO), UOB Malaysia, "The response from the public has been overwhelming for the UOB i-Account Deposit Campaign and UOB SavingsPlus and Basic Savings Campaign. We received several thousands of entries for these contests and they have contributed to the increased number of Savings and i-Account holders."

He added, "These campaigns clearly demonstrate UOB Malaysia's initiative in encouraging the public to save by rewarding our customers. This is our way of saying "Thank You" for choosing us, for banking with UOB."

Campaigns' Mechanisms

(a) UOB i-Account 'Win a Nissan X-trail 2.5L' Campaign

To be in the running to win the Grand Prize, customers were required to open a UOB i-Account or top-up their existing i-Account with RM10,000. Every RM10,000 cumulative deposit will earn one contest entry, with no maximum number of entries permitted.
(b) UOB SavingsPlus and Basic Savings Campaign
  To be eligible for the UOB SavingsPlus and Basic Savings Campaign, customers were required to either open a UOB SavingsPlus/Basic Savings Account or top-up RM20,000 into their existing UOB SavingsPlus or Basic Savings account during the campaign duration. Every new account opened or top-up of RM20,000 will earn one contest entry. The customers can gain more contest entries to increase their chances of winning by referring their friends or family members to open a UOB Savings account or top-up RM20,000 into their SavingsPlus or Basic Savings Account.
