Press Release 2009
New UOB eAccount introduced For Customers' Convenience
UOB(Malaysia) targets 40,000 new account holders.
Kuala Lumpur, 14 April 2009 - More time living. Less time banking. That is United Overseas Bank (Malaysia) Bhd's [UOB (Malaysia)] promise to its UOB eAccount holders. Banking convenience is just a few clicks away with this online savings account from UOB (Malaysia), thus giving the account holders precious hours to attend to other day-to-day activities. They will also enjoy two (2) free Interbank GIRO Fund Transfer [IBG] transactions per month and higher interest compared to other savings accounts.
Explains Mr Chan Kok Seong, Director and Chief Executive Officer of UOB (Malaysia), "We always keep our customers' financial needs in mind, as we develop new banking solutions for their convenience. UOB eAccount benefits not only our retail customers, as this will also be the final piece in UOB Payroll Solution jigsaw for our trade/corporate customers. UOB eAccount is ideal in helping companies to manage their respective employee payroll system. They can now opt to open UOB eAccount for their salaries to be credited."
Added Mr Chan, UOB eAccount has received encouraging response from retail and trade/corporate customers, judging from customers' feedback and new account holders. "From this positive response, we are confident that UOB eAccount will help bring in 40,000 new-to-bank UOB eAccount holders by this year-end, with total deposits amounting to RM20 million."
UOB eAccount holders will receive electronic statements, thus reducing the use of paper and mail postage expenses. These savings are then passed on to the customers, hence the higher interest for their UOB eAccount's balance. Electronic statements also make it easier for them to keep tabs and manage their financial status. Plus, they will also be given UOB Debit MasterCard (which was launched early this month) that functions as ATM card as well.
In conjunction with the introduction of UOB eAccount, UOB (Malaysia) is running the "Click Your Way To More Rewards" promotion (from now till 31 May 2009). New UOB eAccount holders will receive a welcome gift when they deposit a minimum of RM5,000. USB hubs will be given away to UOB eAccount holders for every RM15,000 deposited.* Plus, they stand a chance to win one of the nine Blackberry Curve(s) 8900 up for grabs!**
